The Motivation Behind Building Hooks, the Ultimate Video Hooks Library

Written by: Yuyu

Hi, I’m Yusuf “Yuyu” Odukoya, but most people know me simply as “Yuyu”. As a designer, developer and entrepreneur, I’ve always been passionate about building digital tools that solve real-world problems. You may have come across some of my previous projects like TheLostManual.org, where I aimed to create a hub for product owners who have lost their user manuals, or svglogos.net, which provides a collection of high-quality SVG logos for designers like me. Today, I’m excited to share the story behind one of my latest creation—ViralHooks.video, also known as Hooks—a completely free platform designed primarily with content creators in mind.

The content creation landscape has changed dramatically over the past few years. Social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube have fueled the rise of short-form video content, creating a multibillion-dollar industry. Content creators are constantly searching for ways to capture and hold their audience’s attention, which is no small feat in an era where attention spans are shorter than ever.

As a tech enthusiast, I saw a unique opportunity to contribute to this booming industry. I realized that transitional hooks—those attention-grabbing first few moments that transition seamlessly to the video carrying the main message, are often the secret ingredient to viral success. See an example below:

They’re the difference between a video that people scroll past and one that gets millions of views. Popular creators like Brain Jotter, Broda Shaggi, and Julie of Pamtech have mastered this art, using viral video memes, sound bites, and effects to captivate their audience.

These creators, along with many others, rely on clever transitions and punchy video edits to keep viewers engaged. But as I dug deeper, I noticed that there were very few platforms offering these resources in a way that was truly user-friendly and accessible. There were some existing websites that provided video memes and sound effects, but they were either too cluttered, hard to navigate, or just didn’t offer enough variety. This gap was the catalyst that led to the birth of ViralHooks.

Why I Built ViralHooks.video

When I set out to create Hooks, my primary motivation was simple: I wanted to bridge the gap in the content creation industry. There wasn’t a centralized platform where creators could easily find all the resources they needed to make their content pop. I envisioned ViralHooks as that ultimate solution—a vast library of viral video memes, sound bites, transitional hooks, and effects, all in one place.

Building ViralHooks was driven by my desire to empower content creators. As a content creator, you could never be too good to use these hooks.

If you watch the video below, you will hear Kagantech mention that he has a special hard drive to store all his memes and sound effects that he uses for his video content.

But why carry a special hard drive when you could simply create an account on this site and save all your favorite items in your profile — On the cloud. That way, you could always check back again and quickly reuse them in your upcoming projects.

If you a content creator trying to build an audience, having access to the right tools can make all the difference. Hooks offers creators unlimited access to viral video memes, transitional hooks, and sound effects that can instantly help hook viewers and keep them watching.

I Filled a User Experience Gap

I am highly empathetic in nature. This was originally my reason for being a designer, I had been designing prototypes for my projects long before UI/UX design became a full-fledged profession that it is today.

One of the biggest motivators for me was addressing the user experience gap that I noticed on other platforms. Most sites offering transitional hooks or sound bites were often confusing, did not prioritize perfomance, lack basic UX features like realtime search, have poor navigational system, or required endless browsing of multiple pages to find the right asset. I wanted to change that by making ViralHooks intuitive, fast, and enjoyable to use. No one wants to spend hours searching for the perfect meme or sound effect—they want to find it, integrate it into their content, and move on to creating.

This focus on user experience is a core part of what makes Hooks different. I worked hard to streamline the site’s design and navigation, so that creators can quickly find exactly what they need. Plus, I made sure that Hooks offers an ever-growing library of fresh content, so creators never run out of inspiration.

As the digital content industry continues to evolve, I’m excited about the future of Hooks. I believe we’re only at the beginning of the journey. More and more creators are realizing the value of having quick access to the right transitional hooks, memes, and sound effects, and Hooks is positioned to be their go-to resource.

I’m driven by the idea that Hooks will continue to support and empower creators around the world. As content becomes more creative, engaging, and immersive, I believe that Hooks will play a major role in helping videos go viral and creators achieve their goals.

In the coming months, I plan to continue adding new features, expanding the library, and refining the platform based on user feedback. ViralHooks.video is more than just a tool—it’s a community for creators to thrive and find success in the diabolically competitive world of digital content.
